COMING UP THIS YEAR & BEYOND- – –
North Central Florida Blues Society is proud to present an evening with Jason Ricci & The Band Kind, Bridget Kelly Band and Sheba the Mississippi Queen.
One of the most revolutionary, unorthodox, and influential Blues Musicians is coming to Gainesville, Florida, courtesy of the North Central Florida Blues Society!
Jason Ricci & the Bad Kind are based in New Orleans and that gumbo of genres has influenced Ricci’s Blues. “I want a band with swagger. When I was down in New Orleans, I really fell in love with drums and bass and the way New Orleans’ rhythm sections sound and the way all those street beats are so prominent in the music. This group plays blues and plays funk, really, really well.”
Jason has received multiple Blues Music Award Nominations from 2009 – 2016, winning in 2010. Jason was a featured performer on Johnny Winter’s Grammy award winning CD ‘Step Back’ (2014), and when the late Paul Butterfield and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Jason is who they wisely chose to play with Zac Brown & Tom Morello.
Sheba the Mississippi Queen and the Bridget Kelly Band are the perfect artists to be on this show. When you hear Sheba’s voice, you hear the influences of Billy Holiday, Etta James, Tina Turner, Aretha, and Big Mama Thornton. The Bridget Kelly Band is a two-time semifinalist at the International Blues Challenge and their newest album, Bone Rattler, is #1 on the Roots Music Review Electric Blues Album Chart.
