Hurricane Irma spread the wet around here plus some good winds but overall we, in general, did OK. Many others were not as fortunate, rebuilding and healing thoughts to y’all.
We had the pleasure of hosting Cedric Brunside Project at the Roasting Room Longe & Listening Room here in Bluffton, SC. Cedric and Trenton Ayers slew the crowd with their brand of true to life Hill Country Blues.
I am always amazed at the reaction of folks who see the blues live. They are just amazed at how good the musicians are, many of these folks are not sure they like the blues or what exactly it is, but in cases like Cedric, it didn’t take them long to figure it out and dig into it with a fork and knife.
We are again thankful to Jordan Ross for allowing us to assist in the bringing of blues to the Lowcountry of SC, artists please be aware of this fantastic spot to play in and widen your base.
One of my favorite, lesser known artists is Big Joe Shelton. He won a Jimi Award for Song of the Year, and this week he is at the top of the charts with his ‘Ridin’ A Chicken‘ CD and song, congrats my friend.
There seems to be a almost fanatical obsession with new blues music that I think we often tend to overlokk the past and the roots of it all. So, this week in our second hour’s Amuse Bouche segment, we will feature some Classic Blues from the base of the genre.
Tune in and get some real good back in the day blues, when it was, well, the Blues.
