Baker’s Dozen of Blues: November 21, 2016

This is the season for giving thanks, we all have so many reasons to be thankful so let’s be sure to take a second or more to reflect on your personal reasons for being thankful. Also think of those who are in a less fortunate spot and send them some love and care.

Our #1 this week belongs to Mick Kolassa, otherwise known in certain circles as ‘Michissippi Mick’. his latest release ‘Taylor Made Blues‘ is an homage to his living space in Taylor, Mississippi.

New additions this week are Lew Jetton and Lurrie Bell, be sure to give then some ear and save them a place in your music files.

Well seems like at times the move we move forward the further back we go. Our latest political farce has quite possibly set us back 50 years as far as civil rights among other things. So to ‘celebrate’ this onerous occasion we want to remind everyone that music can move bodies and stir souls to action.

food-comaWith that in mind we are offering an Amuse Bouche put together by none other than Mike Finnigan, of Phantom Blues Band fame. Mike has also played with a who’s who of supremely talented musicians such as Bonnie Raitt, Etta James, Taj Mahal and more. So turn up the radio, phone, or whatever you are listening on and let freedom ring thru the music that we have to make a statement.

Since we are being thankful with an emphasis on the ‘full’ we are offering a special Thanksgiving music show called Food Coma Blues. It features songs about food in all forms and should bring a smile to your face as you sit comatose after all that great food (and probably some drinkie poo too). It starts Monday so check our little graphic here and also facebook. It also airs twice on Thanksgiving Thursday just so you get get a second helping on that day.
