Yes, last week we recovered in earnest from our Spring  Blues Music Tour. Starting in Clarksdale to see Eugene ‘Hideaway’ Bridges perform at the Bluesberry Cafe, then heading to Memphis for the Blues Music Awards.

Then stopping on the way home to visit with friends and see The Red Dirt Revelators (formerly known as WSNB) at KBA winning Darwin’s.

If you have on music trip on tap before you shuffle off this mortal coil, make it Memphis for the Blues Music Awards. So much going on there that week. Showcases, plays, events and the gathering of the blues framily is always good.

Speaking of events I had the pleasure of MC’ing an event in conjunction with the Nashville Blues Society‘s Generation Blues Fund raiser at the Memphis Hard Rock Cafe. This year was epic as every artist gave their best and attendees contributed over $4,600 to the cause. Thanks to all who attended, the artists, sound and ground crew. Let’s do it again next year.

Our number 1 this week goes to Dennis Jones. From California his release ‘Both Sides of the Track‘ could refer to many things, but he says it about his music which covers both sides of the music track Blues & Rock. Right on DJ, this is one fine release, and it was great to see you in Memphis.

Our Amuse bouche features music from the BMA winners, ’nuff said.

Hey as a PS here, we came home to find a sweet place in Bluffton that has live blues and is looking for national touring bands to come in and play. YES this is true, finally. They are called The Roasting Room, and have a great in house sound system and are also a bourbon bar with eats.

We had a chance to see Rusty Wright Band and they raved about the sound system too. With them was the first Jimi Award winning bassist Mark Bumgarner, who is back to playing after an illness.

We also had the chance to see Phil Wiggins in Port Royal, SC on Saturday. It is always good to hear that man blow sweet on that Mississippi saxophone.
