Baker’s Dozen of Blues: December 5, 2016

holiday-logo-onlyGOOD NEWS FOR LIZ MANDEVILLE – SHE’S #1

That was the week that was – and it keeps getting better.

Celebrating my 64th birthday with friends here in Bluffton SC, and the Slam Allen Band was unlike anything I expected, suffice it to say I am still recovering. Thanks to Slam & the band, and to my SC friends for making it special, and thanks to the Roasting Room Lounge for the great time and to their long and historic future.

Good news for Liz Mandeville, she is recovering from a serious mash up in her car, and we all need to send her love and healing thoughts. Her latest release ‘Stars Motel’ features many super artists helping her play them blues that we all can use. Congrats ‘Red Top’ and get well soon.

It’s that most wonderful time of the year, no, not cos I am turning a year older, but it’s the Holiday season. So hip-shakin-mamas-estwe at Blues411 , never missing an opportunity to break out cool blues tunes are featuring some of the tracks you will be hearing on our Holiday Extravaganza that will start Thursday December 8 from 9:00-11:00pm East side of town and running through the entire month. Tune in and enjoy some cool yule blues tunes. As always you can check our Radio page for schedule it is updated to include all new features and shows.

Speaking of Holiday giving, we are also giving y’all a new show that we are very excited about. Called Hip Shakin’ Mamas and it’s all about the ladies in the Blues. Vintage historical music coupled with today’s thoroughly modern twist all put together by Dr, Jane. Dr. Jane has been involved in radio out on the left coast and we are sure she will be a most excellent fit december-2016-benny-turnerwith us and you.

As famous Blues shouter, Billy Idol would say ‘more more more’ with that Rebel Yell, we are bringing even more to the December Music table. Our Guest Curator is none other than Benny Turner. Benny is the brother of Freddie King and has sat down with Sallie Bengston of Nola Blue, Inc and digitally put down some of his memories, insights and favorite bands from his storied past. Folks, I have heard parts of this show (it is like 6 hours of music and stories) and it is so chocked full of nuggets that I urge you to listen when you can. See that graphic to the left for details.
