A Baker’s Dozen of Blues: September 28, 2015

BakersDozen15A busy week, well I guess it’s the ‘norm’ these days. But we did get to see Jarekus Singleton Band at the Savannah Jazz Festival’s Blues Night. The band was off the hook and gained a ballroom full of new fans for their effort. Thanks to Skip Jennings for bringing the blues to Savannah.

Our new #1 this week is one of our all-tine favorites, Otis Taylor. His music is beyond the scope and pattern of most music these days, as he is referred to as the Creator of Trance Blues. With Anne Harris, Larry Thompson, Todd Edmonds, Taylor Scott and Ron Miles (among others) the creator a soundscape unlike any others out there. Congrats and enjoy their music.

One new addition and it’s a strong one, Noah Wotherspoon, a young man who I have been following for several years now since my original exposure to him at the IBC in Memphis. Give him a listen and then come see him plus many others at the Daytona Blues Festival October 9-11 in Daytona Beach Florida.

Our Amuse Bouche this week is ‘new and exciting’ releases. WE have had so many these past few weeks it is hard to keep up with them. So between the ‘Chef Suggestions’ and this portion of the chart we hope to bring ya some stuff that will make ya hollah for more.
