A Baker’s Dozen of Blues: November 16, 2015

BakersDozen15HEADED OUT – JIMI AWARDS ANNOUNCED THURSDAY
With Thanksgiving holiday shortly upon us, we are packing up and headed to PA this week. We will get ourselves a taste of pre-holiday music at the American Showplace Music Event in NYC on Friday the 20
th featuring Alexis P. Suter, Slam Allen, John Ginty and a cornucopia of artists and friends.

Slide1 (1)But before we hit the ‘Big Apple’ on Friday we will be announcing the Annual winners of the Blues411 Jimi Awards for the year 2015. It’s been an amazing year and with all the shows we’ve seen and the music we have enjoyed we know you will enjoy reading our takes on who deserves what an din which categories. So stay tuned on Thursday for the official press release and web shot coming your way.

Our #1 artist this week is the giant of a man, Johnny Sansone. His music is much more than we ever expect from any artist, always pushing boundaries and playing his brand of soul, blues and Nawlins bop. Congrats my friend, and thanks for keeping your music real.

Our Amuse Bouche pays tribute to one of the most prolific and accomplished song writers of our century, Mr. Allen Toussaint. He recently passed but we were fortunate to see him on the 25th Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise, and are so thankful.

So sit back and think about all these (and more) songs that he wrote – he said that he never wanted the spotlight that his music was for others to shine thru, he did this an more as I believe he wrote the music that has been a guide throughout many of our lives. One more thing that I would like to share with you is the addition of King Edward  to our Tier1 Supporter List. King has been an icon in Mississippi Blues Music and one of the  many that call Jackson, MS home. His music is available on iTunes, CD Baby and Amazon, it’s called “50 Years of Blues“, yep that’s the stuff ya can’t get these days, please check his music out.
