A Baker’s Dozen of Blues: March 7, 2016

A nice diversion this past weekend, we went up to Charleston to see The Experience Hendrix Tour. A great time was had by all. It featured Jimi’s music aurally painted by folks like Eric Johnson, Dweezil Zappa, Mato Nanji, Kenny Wayne Sheperd, Jonny Lang and others. Great selection of songs and, for me, the best part was meeting Billy Cox, who had played with everyone of Jimi’s bands as a bassist. Truly a fun night of excellent music and entertainment, check it out if it’s near by.

The Piedmont Report with Mudcat. Debuted this week to rave reviews. Thanks to all those who sent notes along to tell us what they thought. This show added to Lady A’s Gumbo & Gospel, and A Baker’s Dozen of Blues gives us three original programs currently running.

We had our salute to Black History Month which is now archived.  March is International Woman’s Month s we will salute our Woman In Blues by featuring 2 hour blocks every day – see schedule for details. We also have a new bi-weekly show that is debuting this coming Friday,March 11th at 1:00pm EST, Three Peat, which is exactly what ya think. Oh yeah, we have updated our radio schedule on the web page as noted in headlines.

Number 1 this week goes to Benny Turner. We had the chance to meet Benny at the BMA’s last year and are thrilled to be able to bring his music to you. Oh yeah he is related to Freddie King, you can look the rest up!

Debuting this week at are two younger artists, Micah Kesselring from Ohio who is truly an ‘old soul’ and I know you will enjoy his catalog of work.

Our other artist to debut is from Canada, Andria Simone. Andria was recently featured in our Valentine’s Day Amuse Bouche and garnered some positive comments so she gets to hit the charts in the wake of all that.

spring_training2013_610Our Amuse Bouche celebrates the return of Spring Training and baseball!

With music from Dr.John to Buddy Johnson and John Fogerty we cover all the bases plus throw in a late inning rally with a grand slam by Abbott & Costello.

So get off the bench, grab a bat and get ready to clear those bases as we go deep with a game winning set of music.
