A Baker’s Dozen of Blues: June 8, 2015

One quick edit here: RIP Alan Joseph, Leslie’s dad, and one of the very best to come along. Thank you for allowing me to marry your first daughter, my life has been pure joy ever since. We are here in PA to celebrate his life and share the times we had together. RIP Pops.

Well approaching the one month anniversary of my knee replacement. Headed over this Friday for my post-op check up and situational look/see meeting. From where I stand, sit, squat it looks good to go. Probably means I will transfer to outpatient re-hab and PT. Knee looks amazing and also want to shout out to those folks who just had theirs done, just do what they tell ya and take the meds and do the PT.

We took a quick trip to Charleston, SC to catch good buddy, and Soul Stew Recording artist, Billy Thompson and band tear it up in an intimate but friendly Fiery Ron’s BBQ joint, get yourselves there if ya in Chuck-town for good blues & Q.

Deb Ryder has taken hold of the #1 slot here this week. Her ‘Let It Rain’ release has done exceptionally well and should be on everyone’s list of CD’s to own. Congrats to Deb, Ric and Tony Braunagel for such a fine release.

We have 2 new additions to the BDOB this week. First up is a solid blues based band out of Michigan The Rusty Wright Band. Their new release os called ‘Wonder Man’ and that’s the track we are featuring. Also debuting is veteran blues singer Jackie Payne in the #12 slot.

Our Amuse Bouche this week is a look at Piano Players. Yeah, they don’t get enuf love in our book so we are dedicating our segment to them this week. We tried to give a bit of history but also focus on some modern day artists who ya might want to get to know.
