A Baker’s Dozen of Blues: February 8, 2016

Well we are nearly all recovered from our trip to Memphis and the International Blues Challenge. Quite the event,we have tons of photos on facebook page and have shared them around so if ya haven’t seen them – ya haven’t tried to find them.

Our new #1 this week is master soul singer Wee Willie Walker. His smooth delivery will make Saturday night’s perfect for getting together and getting it right, if ya know what I mean.

We have some new charters this week, Jonn Del Toro Richardson and his new release ‘Tengo Blues’ (check your Spanish/English dictionary if ya need to), and Guy Davis and his ‘Kokomo Kidd‘ release. Also not to be denied is Billy The Kid & The Regulators, an IBC finalist two years ago brings his straight forward soul infused brand of blues to ya. Hope ya be digging them all over the coming weeks.

Our Amuse Bouche this week features a bunch of HAPPY BIRTHDAYS to artists who celebrate February as their time to shine.

bhm2A copySpeaking of February, it is Black History Month. Funny how we don;t see a lot of praise or pomp from the Blues Community for this month, hmm, it makes me wonder.

But we at Blues411 Radio will broadcast a ninety minute musical tribute to Black History Month starting at Noon EST this Tuesday. It will feature a look back and a look forward in our own non-comprehensive way to salute the creators not imitators of the Blues, and yes they were Black.  See schedule below, and it will run all month.

The schedule is:
Tuesday Noon-1:30pm
Thursday 8:30 – 10:00pm
Saturday 6:00 – 7:30am

A Baker’s Dozen of Blues now on Blues411 Radio.
