A Baker’s Dozen of Blues: April 11, 2016

BakersDozen15DR. JOHN
TAMPA BAY BLUES FESTIVAL
CHILAXIN’ IN TAMPA

The Tampa Bay Blues Festival closed out Sunday with Walter Trout, great to see him and the band again. Outstanding performances and shout out to surprise band Cash Box Kings who knocked it outta the park. Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Curtis Salgado, Danielle Nicole, Darrel Nulisch, Sugar Ray & Bluetones, Jarekus, Victor & Wildroots  all proved that these blues be thriving.

We are hanging in Tampa/St. Pete area to chill with our friend from Italy, Gaspare, and show him some sights and sounds of the area. A great blues fan we met on the European Blues Cruise , and he has come to America several times to attend blues festivals.

Number one this week, indeed it is, Toronzo Cannon his latest Alligator release is taking the blues world by storm and will be in slid contention for a Blues Music Award next year.

New to the chart this week is a great band from Connecticut The Balkan Brothers. If ya like the hard drivin’ and take no prisoners approach to the Blues, they will fit like a glove.

Canada-Flag-Open-e1358696598990Our Amuse Bouche this week salutes our many friends and artists from up North, no not North Carolina, Canada. Amazing depth here, as I was going through my files there were so many that I had to really pick and choose and give light to some of the ones ya may not know or forgotten about. So ehn-joy.

BTW we did see Dr. John at the Savannah Music Festival before leaving for Tampa. Standing ovation from a semi buttoned up crowd, great night.
